Positive Thinking Gets Positive Results
Have you ever come across someone who is so positive about everything that you want to shout at them “Get real…life is not like that all the time”?
That used to be me. Not the super positive person but the naysayer. I prided myself on being a ‘realist’ and grounded and thought I was doing favors by reeling in super positive people by telling it like it is.
Not so much anymore. Why? Because I’ve converted to believing that WHAT WE THINK IS WHAT WE GET. That ‘like thoughts’ attract other ‘like thoughts’. That there really isn’t a downside to being positive.
Took me a while, but I’ve finally figured out that for me, it’s a heck of a lot more fun adopting a positive attitude than a negative one.
Doesn’t mean I’m oblivious to dangerous situations or difficulties. But I’ll tell you, bringing a positive mindset to a tough situation gives me a healthy perspective that serves me well. It’s not always the easy route- I’m pretty well practiced in taking the “OMG the sky is falling” route. But I’m paving a new path for myself. Sometimes it takes a reminder from my wonderful husband. Sometimes the reminder comes from within myself…
I’m curious- when given the choice between adopting a negative or positive mindset about something you are facing, what influences come to bear for you?

I agree that positive thoughts beget positive things. I have a few friends who are true optimists (and not in an annoying PollyAnna way, just in an inspiring way) and I ask myself, “What would so-and-so do/say/think in this situation?”
Great reminder Wendy. Keep those positive thoughts coming from within. Gratitude or Resentment. What will it be today? The choice is ours.
I had to think about this one! I think I think so much that perhaps I just don’t immediately see the negative or the poistive of situations. Then, once my assessment is complete, I tend toward the positive. This is where I am most comfortable. It takes a great number of repeat offences to move me to the dark side.
Thanks Wendy! Whenever I start to worry about negative things, I remind myself they could happen anyway so it’s better to focus on the positive – and work to make good things happen!
